چکیده

1 Definition of bioplastics The two main groups of bioplastics are biobased polymers and biodegradable plastics. Biobased polymers are derived from biomass sources, which are not necessarily biodegradable. Biodegradable plastics, on the other hand, can be either made of natural or fossil sources. In 2012, the IUPAC recommended a terminology for biorelated polymers [1, 2]. Two further, special classes that may be termed bioplastics are oxo-biodegradable plastics and bionanocomposites.

Dossier – Non - intentionally added substances ( NIAS )

1 Definition of NIAS Non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) are chemical compounds that are present in food contact materials (FCMs) and could therefore migrate into food, but they are not added for a technical reason during the production process. Often their presence is not known by the consumer and not even by the producer. The phenomenon of NIAS is not new, but the awareness towards this...

Application of Bioplastics in Bulk Packaging: a Revolutionary and Sustainable Approach

In this paper we have discussed about the possible practical approach to adopt the bioplastics in the field of Bulk Packaging. There are lot of hazardous effects of petroleum based plastic and packages on the environment. So there is a need of rethinking for the use of this kind of materials which create threat to the society and environment through different kinds of packaging. Here an effort ...

Conversion of Biomass into Bioplastics and Their Potential Environmental Impacts

To build our economy on a sustainable basis, we need to find a replacement for fossil carbon as chemical industry feedstocks (Andrady and Neal, 2009). There are growing concerns about current petroleum based production, accumulation of waste in landfills and in natural habitats including the sea, physical problems for wildlife resulting from ingestion or entanglement in plastic, the leaching of...

Biosynthesis of planet friendly bioplastics using renewable carbon source

Plastics are uniquely flexible materials that offer considerable benefits as a simple packing to complex engineering material. Traditional synthetic polymers (often called plastics), such as polypropylene and polyethylene have been derived from non-renewable petrochemicals and known to cause environmental concerns due to their non-biodegradable nature. The enormous use of petroleum-based plasti...
